Use Case

Turn a folder of documents into a citation-backed review table — without sending the data room to a web app.

High-volume review often starts with the same questions repeated across every document. Legalcode's tabular review workflow turns a question list into a structured review matrix, with one row per document and citation-backed answers for each column.

Your documents stay local

Data rooms, contract sets, and diligence exports stay in your environment. Your agent inventories and reads the files locally, while Legalcode supplies legal frameworks and source lookup where needed. Searches are processed, never stored.

  • Your agent works with your documents locally
  • Searches are processed, never stored
  • Combine Legalcode with your local files, tools, and workflows in one environment
  • Works inside your existing AI agent — Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client

How it works

  1. 1

Point the agent at a folder

Choose one or more local folders containing PDFs, DOCX files, scans, emails, or mixed exports. The document set stays on your machine.

  2. 2

    Define the review columns

Provide the questions you want answered for each document: assignment consent, termination rights, governing law, pricing terms, unusual obligations, or any custom diligence point.

  3. 3

    Answers are extracted with evidence

The workflow converts documents, answers each column, and attaches page references or quoted support so weak or unsupported cells can be checked.

  4. 4

    Review outputs are generated

The agent produces a portable table, JSON data, and review notes that can be opened locally or moved into your preferred spreadsheet workflow.

What it produces

  • Review matrix with one row per document
  • Citation-backed answers for each requested column
  • Confidence flags for weak, missing, or conflicting answers
  • Document manifest with file hashes and source paths
  • Portable CSV/XLSX/JSON-style outputs for follow-up review

FAQ

Is this only for contracts?
No. It works for contract sets, VDR exports, policy folders, litigation document sets, regulatory files, and any corpus where you need the same questions answered across many documents.
Does Legalcode receive the documents?
No. The documents are processed by your agent in your environment. Legalcode is queried only for legal source lookup when the workflow needs law, case law, guidance, or agreements.
Can I choose my own columns?
Yes. The workflow is driven by your question list, so the table can match a diligence request list, a review protocol, or a custom internal playbook.
What makes it citation-backed?
Each answer should carry a page reference, quoted support, or source note where the document provides one, making the table reviewable instead of a black-box summary.
