Set up Legalcode in two minutes

Connect Legalcode to your AI tool, ask legal research questions, and upgrade only when you need more depth.

Quick start

Paste one link into the AI tool you already use, start a new chat or thread, then ask a legal question. That's the whole setup.

  1. Open connector, app, or MCP settings in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Cowork, Copilot, or another MCP-compatible client.
  2. Add Legalcode with the connector URL: https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp.
  3. Start a new chat or thread. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.
  4. Ask a legal research question.

Choose your tool

  • Two paths. If you just want to research the law, use Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Copilot, or another MCP-compatible client — paste one link, done. If you are a developer who wants repeatable local workflows, use Claude Code with the Legalcode plugins.
  • Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and most MCP clients: paste the connector URL in app or connector settings, then start a new chat or thread.
  • Codex: open Settings, MCP Servers, add a Streamable HTTP server, paste the connector URL, save, authenticate, then start a new chat or thread. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.
  • Claude Code and Cowork: use the connector URL directly, or ask your AI tool to follow the Legalcode plugin and workflow directions when plugins are supported, then start a new chat or thread.
  • Any MCP-compatible client: add the Legalcode connector. Some tools call this a remote MCP server. Start a new conversation afterward because already-open conversations may not see new MCP servers.
